Polish-based household appliances producer Zelmer triples sales in Ukraine in Q1, 2011

Zelmer Group, Poland's largest manufacturer of small household appliances, in January-March 2011 increased sales in Ukraine by 2.9 times compared to the same period in 2010, to PLN 21.6 million (about UAH 62.2 million), according to a company financial report.
In the first quarter, the company saw exports rise by 54%, to PLN 75 million, or about 50% of total sales. The increase in the company's business was mainly due to its operations in Russia and Ukraine.
According to the report, in January-March 2011 its revenues were PLN 157.15 million, which is 11% up on 2010, while its EBITDA was up by 19.5%, to PLN 22.36 million.
The number of the company's employees as of March 31, 2011 was 1,959 people. The number of its employees in Ukraine has grown from 18 to 28 people this year.
Zelmer mainly produces vacuum cleaners, kitchen appliances, and irons. It has representative offices in Russia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Ukraine.
Zelmer exports products to Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, the Baltic countries, Canada, the United States, and South Korea.
