9 June 2011
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) expects a profit from holding the 2012 European Football Championship in Ukraine and Poland in the amount of 1.3 billion euros. This is slightly higher than that of EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.

According to forecasts, the lion's share of the provisional income estimate for EURO 2012 will be the sale of media rights - 62% or more than 840 million euros, and commercial rights (sponsorship, licensing and merchandising) - 22% or 290 million euros.

Overall, UEFA points to the large increase in profits from the continental football championship and today it can be stated that over the past twenty years the European Championship yield has increased more than 30 times.

UEFA President Michel Platini, also noted at a press conference in Baku that preparations for EURO 2012 finals in Ukraine and Poland were proceeding according to schedule. He said that all the risks concerning the readiness of some infrastructure objects had been left behind.

He also expressed confidence that Ukraine and Poland would organize a good football festival in 2012.
