Chornomorsky Shipbuilding Yard (Mykolaiv) and Argentinean company Astillero Rio Santiago (ARS), one of the largest shipyards in Latin America, are planning to develop cooperation in ship building and repairs, according to a company press release.
The companies signed a relevant protocol on cooperation at a specialized international exhibition recently held in Hamburg (Germany).
According to Chornomorsky Shipbuilding Yard Director General Valeriy Kalashnikov, the Ukrainian side is expecting cooperation with ARS to bring new orders to the plant.
"We highly appreciate the trust and interest of our Argentinean partners. We are ready to offer the most efficient conditions for new orders and hope that the signing of the letter of intent is just the first step towards a long-term and efficient cooperation between our companies," the company's press service said citing CJSC Smart-holding Deputy Director General Oleksiy Tymofeyev.
Chornomorsky Shipbuilding Yard is one of the largest shipyards in Ukraine. Its large and varied production capacities mean it can design, build and repair any vessels, including aircraft carriers and supertankers.
OJSC Kherson Shipyard owns a 90.25% stake in the company.
