The Ukrainian IT and office equipment market in April-June 2011 grew by 44% year-over-year, to UAH 2.16 billion, reads a report by market research company GfK Ukraine published on Tuesday.
In the monitors segment, LCD device sales grew by 27% in Q2, 2011, and LED monitor sales rose to 3.6% of all monitors sales. The most popular models of monitors are 18.5- and 21.5-inch monitors.
In Q2, 2011, 3D monitors appeared on the Ukrainian market, although their share is only 2% of total sales.
According to the research, in April-June the market of desktops rose by 20% in kind and by 46% in monetary terms.
Laptop sales also show a lot of growth. In April-June 2011, 93% more laptops were sold compared to the same period of 2010. The growth in monetary terms was only 51%, which is linked to the fall in the average price of laptops over the last year. The share of netbook sales fell from 17.3% to 15%, and there is no upward trend in the segment, analysts say.
The research says that tablet PCs, which recently appeared on the market, could push the netbook segment out in the future, although their high price at present is one of the decisive factors for buyers.
According to the report, printers and multifunctional devices showed growth on the office equipment market – 18% and 30% growth respectively in monetary terms. In Q2, 2011, the scanner segment continued falling, showing an 11% fall compared to Q2, 2010.
