Gocce del gusto trade house to open Pellini coffee house chain in Kyiv

The Gocce del gusto trade house, the official importers of Italy's Pellini and Lucaffe coffee brands in Ukraine, is planning by late 2012 to open three Pellini coffee houses in various formats.
"This [the opening of the coffee houses] will be the first stage of the creation of a large coffee house chain with the same name in Ukraine," reads a company report.
It is planned that first coffee houses will be located downtown Kyiv in the business, in TOP and VIP formats. Investment in the opening of a coffee house will reach up to $80,000.
At present, the company has held preliminary talks with franchise operators who expressed their readiness to open 50 coffee houses in the Pellini format in Ukraine.
Gocce del gusto said that the opening of franchise coffee houses is not only the popularization of the brand, but also a way to increase coffee sales under the Pellini and Lucaffe brands in Ukraine.
"We're planning to make around 50% of our sales in coffee houses," reads the report.
In 2012, Gocce del gusto expects to boost coffee sales in Ukraine to 30 tonnes, compared to six tonnes in 2011.
Italy's Pellini was created in 1922 as a family business. At present, it is the fifth largest coffee producer in Italy.
In 2011, Pellini coffee sales in the world grew by 15% on 2010, to EUR 68 million.
Experts evaluate the Ukrainian coffee market in 2011 at $350 million. Ukraine is fourth in Europe in terms of the number of cups of coffee drunk per person.
