The French forage producer from Brittany has purchased about 30,000 tons of Ukrainian corn that, according to market operators, is an unprecedented purchase related to a recent price rise for European wheat.
At the same time, a way of Ukrainian corn to the French province was rather long. The ship Promise 1 with corn onboard arrived in Lorain on January 1 and left it only on Thursday January 13. A longer than usual unloading of the ship is explained by additional examinations, strikes and bad weather conditions.
To remind, France with annual 13-15 million tons of grain is the largest corn producer on the Old Continent. However, a sharp growth of prices for grain crops in Europe makes local producers of fodder for cattle breeding to look for suppliers of the raw material abroad.
