Ukraine invites Japanese companies to join alternative energy projects
26 September 2011
Ukraine is to invite Japanese companies to join in projects related to alternative energy sources, Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has said.

"We are implementing big projects on alternative energy sources. This is very important to us, as the gas price is very high. Japanese companies could join these projects," he said during a meeting with Motoyuki Oka, the chairman of the Ukraine-Japan committee on business cooperation and CEO of Sumitomo Corporation, in Kyiv on Friday.

According to the Ukrainian premier, the government is interested in attracting green investment.

Azarov promised that the assets Ukraine receives under such programs would be spent only on the realization of environmental projects.
