Ukrainian grain exports to total 16 mln in 2010/11 MY

This Marketing Year (MY, July 2010-June 2010) grain exports may total about 16 mln tonnes, announced Nikolay Prysiajniuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine on June 20.

According to the Minister, wheat exports may total about 6.7 mln tonnes, including 3 mln tonnes of milling wheat, maize – 5 mln tonnes, barley – 3.7 mln tonnes and 0.5 mln tonnes other crops.

Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Agricultural Policy, Viktor Slauta stated that according to the expected harvest at the level of 42 mln tonnes (in clean weight), in new MY Ukraine will export about 18 mln tonnes of grains.

On the 20 of July, 2010 Ukraine harvested 11.6 mln tonnes, the enterprises from all over the country started harvesting.

Information

Ukraine is the world’s third country after the United States and Argentina in terms of coarse grains exported in last years and the world’s sixth country after the United States, the European Union, Canada, Russia and Australia in terms of wheat and wheat flour exports, according to the Secretariat of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
